The Story
Our family has always had an open-door policy and opening our door to children has been no exception. Aside from being a lead preschool teacher for URI’s School of Education research preschool, I have spent years regularly caring for babies and toddlers out of our cozy home. Exploring trails, jumping in mud puddles, examining worms, getting lost in picture books, and braving potty training with these little ones has brought the most rewarding joy out of all my endeavors.
When our son was born in 2019, I decided to quit teaching and start the school that I desired for my own kids. We moved into our lovely house on Sweet Lane where we are fully equipped with a spacious playroom, a large fenced in backyard, and beautiful Ryan Park just a walk away. It has been the perfect spot to nurture our babies and grow our Sweet Lane School House community.
At SLSH, we believe that toddlers and young children thrive most when in a home-like atmosphere where they can feel completely comfortable to explore the world around them without the competition of large class sizes and unrealistic development standards. Using my degree and 10+ years of experience in early childhood, I am able to plan meaningful, open-ended activities and play experiences, as well as help parents gauge their child’s stage of development using the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development standards. Our home is a place for the whole family to feel loved and taken care of. Feel free to reach out anytime with additional questions, schedule a tour or to enroll your child.
